One-on-One Mentoring

“Thank you for giving me the opportunity to work with a mentor. I am budgeting, saving more money, providing more support financially to my family, removed debt from my credit report and increased my score, eating healthier, improving work relationships and even increased my weekly contribution to my 401k!”Andre, Career Gear Client

The MAST Program

The MAST program (Mentoring: Advancement, Success and Transition) was launched in 2010 as a one-on-one mentoring program thanks to funding by the Pascal Sykes Foundation. As a personalized addendum to the Professional Development Series, these mentor/mentee meetings have helped a significant number of participants open bank accounts, re-engage with their children, and make a positive contribution to their communities.

Professional Development Series participants are paired with expert mentors/coaches for six months, meeting bi-weekly for at least an hour. Participants are challenged with specific tasks such as: revising resumes, refining Internet-based job searches, preparing for a workplace evaluation, creating weekly budgets, credit and debt management, addressing child-support orders, engaging in healthy lifestyles and working with banks and creditors.
